Nutritious Food. Clean Water. Clothing. Shelter. Medical Care.
Feeding the Hungry
Nutritious food, clean water, sturdy shelter and access to medical care are basic needs of every human. Unfortunately, there are millions of people throughout Africa who do not have access to these basic amenities. The plight of the poor in Africa is simply heartbreaking.
The average diet of people in Uganda is Posha, Beans, Rice and Matoki (like plantain) and many times they eat only one meal per day. While these staples can fill the belly they are relatively poor as a nutrient source and are lacking many of the daily vitamins needed to maintain optimum health.
Water sources in Uganda tend to be shallow wells, streams or swampy pools in the rural areas. Efforts have been undertaken to increase the number of bore hole wells nearby every village but thousands of communities still depend on contaminated water sources for their survival. This problem contributes to the high incidents of Cholera, River Blindness and other waterborne diseases.
Millions of people die each year from Malaria. This is very sad since Malaria can be treated with modern medicine. However many people do not have access to healthcare. Small clinics tend to be to far away and do not have the capacity to serve all the cases. Medicine is relatively inexpensive but still too expensive for most Africans. The combinations of contaminated water sources, a bad diet and nonexistent medical care all conspire to shorten the lives of our brothers and sisters in Africa. The average life span of a Ugandan is 56 years old.
The good news is that this is a solvable problem. In the short term we need your donations to help provide food, drill new wells, buy mosquito nets, distribute medicine and build adequate shelters. With your continued financial support can help better the lives of an entire village.
