...a world without electricity, without telephones, without hospitals or cars.
...your children never having the chance to go to school.
...waking up everyday wondering if you will eat once, twice or not at all.
...walking for miles to a malaria infested swamp to get water. Imagine never owning a pair of shoes.
...spending every night of your life sleeping on the ground.
...toiling from sun up to sun down to make less than two dollars a day.
...living in a place where you must constantly be on guard against people who want to kill you and kidnap your children.
...a place where preventable diseases like Cholera, Yellow Fever and Malaria run unchecked, killing millions.

What We Do
Who We Are
Fighting poverty and disease through education and economic investment. Showing the love of Jesus Christ in our actions.
Pilgrim Ministries is a Christian organization focused on eradicating poverty wherever it exists. Currently our mission centers on the small country of Uganda in East Africa. In Uganda we have seen thousands of people without adequate food, water, clothing, education, or access to basic healthcare.
In Northern Uganda the situation is even worse. People have suffered from a 20 year civil war that has displaced millions and killed thousands. During this war the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) has managed to kidnap thousands of young boys and girls and press them into their army.
However, despite these horrific circumstances the Ugandan people continue to be strong, hospitable and hardworking. Yet war, poverty and disease has taken it’s toll on this generation and they face a bleak future without our help.
They need our assistance as they strive to develop their country. The key to this development is making sure that every child has an opportunity to be educated. Knowledge is the key to any countries development. The more people know the better they can avoid the causes of diseases such as AIDS, Cholera, Yellow Fever and Malaria. Through education people can learn how to increase their crop yields, keep their livestock healthy and manage their resources. With a good education they can learn a marketable skill and contribute to their local economy and the global market.
Education is a big part of the equation but having a skill without the resources is only half the battle. The second piece is economic investment. Through small loans, and investments in business in Uganda we can help those with knowledge put it to work. A small amount of money will start a business and jumpstart the free market. Knowledge and financing combined creates and environment for economic success. It is the same combination of influences that sustains us in the developed world.
It is this self sustaining economy that will break the chains of poverty in Africa. While charitable giving will be needed in the next few decades to sustain the people, the hope is that countries like ganda will flourish; be self sufficient and capable of providing it’s people with a life filled with opportunity.
But all this would be for nothing if they never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, it is our hope that by our compassionate actions, the people we help will see the mercy and love of Christ and turn to Him. Because no matter how improved their lives become on earth it can never compare to Heaven.
Join us in this mission. Pray for us that souls will be saved and that peoples difficulties will be eased by our efforts. In all things may God receive the glory.
